Menurut  Nars   dalam Jurnal Manajemen Transportasi  (2008:116)     definisi ketepatan waktu adalah :  “Ketepatan waktu ( on time performance ) adalah  catatan dari ketepatan waktu perusahaan penerbangan pada keberangkatan dan kedatangan penerbangan ”. Ground Handling

Kegiatan operasional pada suatu perusahaan penerbangan ( airline ) menjadi pokok utama dalam tercapainya ketepatan waktu ( on time performance ). Oleh karena itu, dengan mempertimbangkan efisiensi dalam menjalankan kegiatan operasional, tidak sedikit perusahaan penerbangan ( airline ) melakukan kerjasama kepada perusahaan penyedia jasa pelayanan atau penanganan kegiatan operasional di darat ( ground handling ).  Hal ini semakin mendorong tumbuh kembangnya perusahaan penyedia jasa ( ground handling ) memberikan pelayanan ( service ) dalam kegiatan operasionalnya.
